Centrally placed for entertainment and recreation, Junction City began as a transportation junction for east and west railroad lines. The west side railroad line was never built, but many years later, the city became the junction for the two main branches of the Pacific Highway in the Willamette Valley. For those who like small town amenities but still want access to big town excitement, Junction City is for you!

Junction City is between Oregon State University in Corvallis and University of Oregon in Eugene. This allows visitors and residents to enjoy the many PAC-10 sporting events, theatre and dance productions, films, cultural exhibits and concerts held in these major university towns. Junction City gained media attention throughout the United States in 2003, when a number of local men posed in the nude for "The Men of the Long Tom Grange Calendar" to raise money for the local school district. This raised $225,000.
